Cornex is a selective, post-emergence, and broad-spectrum herbicide by Dhanuka Agritech Limited developed in collaboration with Nissan Chemicals. It acts as a “one-shot solution” to control sedges (like Cyperus rotundus), broadleaf, and narrowleaf weeds in maize and sugarcane crops.
Core Technical & Formulation Details
- Technical Name: Halosulfuron Methyl 5% + Atrazine 48% WG
- Formulation: Water Dispersible Granules (WG)
- Target Crops: Maize and Sugarcane
- Application Dose: Approximately 1400 ml (or 450 g of the WG formulation) per acre, mixed with adequate water
- Pack Sizes: Available in 225g and 450g packs
- Dual Action: Combines two active ingredients with different modes of action.
- Translocation Activity: It is absorbed by both foliage (moves downwards via phloem) and roots (moves upwards via xylem), killing the entire weed, including the tubers of nutgrass (Cyperus rotundus).
- Residual Control: Offers both immediate foliar knockdown and long-term residual soil activity.
- Rain-fastness: Resistant to being washed off by rain just 1 to 4 hours after application.
- Yield Improvement: Early removal of weed competition helps the maize or sugarcane crop maximize its growth and yield potential.
Cornex is a post-emergence herbicide and should be applied when the weeds are in their early active growth stages (typically when the weeds have 2-4 leaves) and the crop is well-established.
